Hello all you art lovers!
I am visiting my friends in New Jersey and taking some trips into the city (New York) to check out some galleries.
So first we go to the New Museum in the Bowery. They have an exhibit by the German artist Urs Fischer that takes up three floors. I have to say that I wasn’t impressed. I do love sculpture, and some of the works were impressive, especially the large cast aluminum forms. But I found myself wondering how they got them up to the third floor and that was pretty much all that they made me think about. There were also the typical art films and a single croissant hanging in a empty room that reminded me that it was lunch time.
In the gift store I looked at a book of Urs Fisher’s work and as liked a lot of it and wondered why it wasn’t in the exhibition. I got the distinct feeling that all the best work had been left in Europe.
So this exhibition gets a passive thumbs down on the Larry Scale. …. More to come from NYC soon….
